Cisco Grove
Cisco Grove is a small community on both sides of I-80. Many of the cabins are along the Yuba River and are still on dirt roads only about half of which are plowed in winter. Rarely do these properties become available but when they do they are still affordable.
Did you know that. Cisco Grove was formerly called Cisco and was the place where the Auburn Ski Club began in 1928 when a few pioneers became enchanted with the idea of skiing and built a ski jump at Towle, slightly to the West of Cisco. In those days there was no winter traffic on U.S. 40 and the hardy skiers had to hand-shovel their road to the ski jump. They were instrumental in promoting legislation for a gas tax to fund snow removal on major Sierra highways.
